Audi is really playing out the fuel efficiency card, and with ads dedicated to pimping that quality in their luxury cars – who knows!
The 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show held recently may have been the greenest motor show so far. Among the cars that made a real impact is the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept from BMW.
The BMW creation runs on a system that is capable of drawing out 390 horsepower and an excellent torque of 590 lb-ft. This numbers come from the 163 horsepower 1.5L turbo diesel engine with 3 cylinders coupled with two electric motors depending on a lithium ion battery.
The hybrid capability of the Vision EfficientDynamics is not the only thing green about it. You also have to highlight the low emission numbers at 50 grams of CO2 per kilometer. The car can also run for 31 miles while relying on the electric motors alone.
BMW claims that the car can rush from 0 to 60 in just 4.8 seconds. That just means that going green doesn’t necessarily mean going slow on the road.
